How you will benefit from this training
Invisible disabilities are impairments that are not immediately physically visible. It is estimated that around 80% of the UK’s disabled population have invisible disabilities.
This will include your employees, colleagues, customers, volunteers, pupils and service users.
This training aims to improve participants’ understanding of how to consider and support people with invisible disabilities, to ensure they receive inclusive and equal treatment.
In the second part of the training, participants explore:
- invisible disabilities
- how to support individuals in the workplace.
- Discuss and examine types of Invisible disabilities.
- Compare statistics of invisible and other disabilities to highlight their frequency.
- Discuss own impairments, and how they affect everyday life.
- Discuss and examine effective means of supporting a friend or colleague with an invisible disability.
- Participants gain a greater understanding of what constitutes an Invisible Disability.
- Participants gain a better understanding of the law in relation to how it protects individuals with invisible disabilities.
- To achieve a greater understanding of how invisible disabilities can impact upon an individual’s like and that of their family/friends/colleagues.
- To support attendees in gaining the skills to better support people with unseen disabilities.
The session is interactive and encourages participants to think about various issues using a range of training methods, such as:
- PowerPoint presentation
- Group Activities
- Video work
